Every month or so there is a post asking about training or standards or publications...so I thought I would share this with the group.

I recently had a chance to attend a "beta" course being offered by Litworks (a division of DTI, www.litworks.net) I have to admit the course was absolutely incredible.  Those of you that know me, know those are not words I use often or lightly. The course was spread out over 5 days and was one of the most informative courses I have attended while working in the litigation support field.  Coming from the tech side of the legal industry I have often had a tough time understanding the legal work flow involved in case management.  This course did wonders to open my eyes to both sides of the coin..tech and legal.  I learned more useful practical information in one day of this course than all week at LegalTech (seriously, how many times can we discuss the proposed changes to the ROFP).  The class is not like typical "training" – it is more like a workshop where you actually have to participate in small group discussions and complete individual projects – it wasn't just sitting around listening to someone talk about litigation support or EDD.  There was absolutely NO pressure from DTI regarding their services. (although their facility is shaping up to be very impressive)

For anyone (lit support, IT, paralegals, vendors) who is looking to further their knowledge about litigation support, network with others in our industry, or just learn some new ways of handling cases, I highly suggest you check out this course.  (www.litworks.net). If anyone has any questions about the course please feel free to contact me off list jeff.kirksey@sablaw.com or I'm sure Litworks wouldn't mind a phone call.
